The Sea. Owen Pallett. Album Has a Good Home. I waded out too far Lost sight of the shore Sunk beneath the surface I closed, I closed my eyes. The undertow would take me down The waves take me home I will live and die like the sea The sea he sighed. Gentle listener This is why I sing Confusion. Sweet confusion you'll be my only child My only child.

Artist: Owen Pallett, Final Fantasy. Album: Has a Good Home. Lyrics: Fascinate, fascinate, fascinated. Investment, investment. for every whore, relief. No matter a drunkard, a swineherd, a spaniard. we're all treated equally. Canada, Cana-daddy-doody-da. Let her keep a memento. She has not been able to sleep. Since the days of Trudeau. On music, on painting, distract us with drying. and don't let the audience die. Watch Alice get better, and Peggy get stronger. they'll still publish once in a while.

This has turned out to be a stellar year for Canadian violin maestro Owen Pallett, who has stepped out from underneath the moniker Final Fantasy to record music using his own name.

Pallett's debut album, Has a Good Home, was released on February 12, 2005, by the Blocks Recording Club, a cooperative, Toronto-based record label of which he is a founding member. An Arrow in the Side of Final Fantasy" borrows the music from the Space Zone's final level in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. On November 11, 2006, Pallett posted to a fan forum to announce a new album, tentatively titled Heartland. Subsequently on July 9, 2007 on the CBC Radio One program Q, Pallett said that the album would be released no earlier than mid 2008. In the same interview he confirmed that it would be titled Heartland, and that it was an album about nothingness. In 2007, the song "This Is The Dream of Win & Regine" was used in a commercial for Wiener Stadtwerke without Pallett's permission.

Owen Pallett’s latest album is In Conflict. He won the Polaris Prize for his album He Poos Clouds, released under the name Final Fantasy. Here’s his dissection of a Lady Gaga song. Its iconic Christmas anthem has been making the rounds lately.

Owen Pallett’s beginning wasn’t exactly humbling: He played in an avant-garde pop group called Les Mouches. And unlike all those previously mentioned musicians who either blush or turn over a table when their past is brought up, Pallett is still very much in love with his old band. Featuring Pallett on violin and vocals, Matt Smith on guitar and Rob Gordon on drums, Les Mouches were part of the now-defunct Toronto indie label, Blocks Recording Club. Of course, he would take full control of that responsibility the following year with Final Fantasy’s debut, Has A Good Home, but with Les Mouches he cut his teeth. That said, this was very much a three-person band. As intrinsic as Pallett’s strings and voice were, the same should be argued for Smith’s enchantingly melodic guitar swells and Gordon’s unruly and volatile drum fills.
