Yessongs is the first live album by the English rock band Yes, released as a triple album in May 1973 on Atlantic Records. After completing their Close to the Edge Tour in April 1973, the band selected live recordings between February and December 1972 on their tours supporting Fragile (1971) and Close to the Edge (1972) for a live album release.
Yes - 1976 (Solo Album) Tour Date : Saturday, June 05, 1976 City : Jackson, Mississippi, United States Of America Venue : Mississippi Coliseum Capacity : 10,000. Lineup : Jon Anderson (Vocals) Steve Howe (Guitars) Patrick Moraz (Keyboards) Chris Squire (Bass) Alan White (Drums). Since there is some interest in the Patrick Moraz era of Yes I thought I'd dust off some old tapes and see what I could come up with that hasn't seen the light of day in awhile. This show was a bit of a milestone for Yes as it was their biggest audience ever with an estimated 100,000-150,000 people. It was the first time that I actually experienced the sort of Yes magic that you can hear on Yessongs. It was also the first time in my life that real violence happened right in front of me.
Recorded in the early 1970's, the sound holds up surprisingly well. If your introduction to Yes was Owner Of A lonely Heart, the Drama album or you prefer the material from their first two albums, you won't find any of that version of the band represented here. My advice is to YouTube Yessongs, listen to a few samples, then make an informed purchase decision. Please - don't grab a bootleg download.
Yessongs the album I revisit sometimes, but Yessongs the video gets played very rarely now that I have so many other and better Yes products. Only for fans, but for them it can be very enjoyable indeed! But make sure you get the Yessongs double album as it gives you a lot more value for your money. I recently bought the DVD version of this film. Wakeman& organ solo is impressive too in this song. And You and I" was well played too, with Howe using a double necked 12 & 6 strings electric guitars plus his pedal steel guitar.
Yes. Released May 4, 1973. Yessongs is the first live album by Yes, released as a triple album in May 1973 on Atlantic Records. Yessongs begins with Opening (Excerpt from ‘Firebird Suite’), a piece of the closing section to the orchestral work The Firebird (1910) by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. Yes have used the piece as the introductory music to most of their concerts since 1971, the year of the composer’s death. The track segues into Siberian Khatru from Close to the Edge. The album featured new drummer Alan White, but two tracks (Perpetual Change, Long Distance Runaround, The Fish) had been previously recorded.
Yessongs-The Album is devoted to live performances of Yessongs as it appears on the officially released album. We play the music as it was meant to be to be-with all of the energy and excitement of the original, and with no wigs, capes, or other tribute band nonsense. This is the music as it was always intended to be-powerful and exuberant.
