Worried Mind is devoted to interpretations of country & western tunes, and I Almost Lost My Mind applies the same formula to a set of R&B songs. Both albums were made after Anthony had disbanded his big band and assembled a Vegas lounge act, and as a result, the albums are much more subdued than the brassy, danceable music that brought him success in the '50s. Both albums make use of a vocal chorus and are firmly in the easy listening camp: smooth, mellow, contemplative, but without the unique instrumental blend that characterized Anthony's big band. 2. Weary Blues From Waitin'. Growing up in the 50's and playing trumpet myself both make this a very special album for me. The music is beautiful and Mr. Anthony adds such a special delight with his trumpet. Published on December 16, 2004.
