For Me, It's You is Train's fourth studio album and last recorded as a five-piece until 2014's Bulletproof Picasso and the only album to feature the second lineup. The album's first single, "Cab", was released to radio in November 2005. The second and third singles, "Give Myself to You" and "Am I Reaching You Now" were released in mid-2006. The album was met with commercial disappointment.

It peaked 73 in the UK Single Charts and in the Belgium Charts making Tell Me It's Not Over their most successful single in Belgium.

So it seems odd for this chart guerrilla to fall into so many trad-pop trappings on sophomore album It's Not Me, It's You. There's the sound: Alright, Still's hissy, homey samples are booted for decidedly more streamlined and schizophrenic backdrops. The voice: Allen's conversational and unpredictable flow is replaced with broad, upfront lines. For almost any other artist, the lines would be barbed, sarcastic, and, ultimately, uppity and bland indictments. She's part of the problem and is plagued by an overwhelming sense of collapse; she has her cake, throws it around the restored dining room and then feels a tinge of panic while observing the mess.

Allen wrote and recorded the album's 12 songs with producer Greg Kurstin (the bird and the bee), who worked with her on three songs for Alright, Still - "Everything's Just Wonderful," "Alfie" and "Not Bi. On It's Not Me, It's You, Lily's characteristically sharp observations find expression in a variety of musical styles, with influences ranging from the Jazz Era to country and western to dance music
