I Don't Want to Grow Up is the second album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1985 through New Alliance Records. It marked the end of a two-year hiatus for the band, during which singer Milo Aukerman had attended college and drummer Bill Stevenson had joined Black Flag

Give a closer ear to the song, though - where the reason not to grow up is that it might "mean being like you" - and the band's core message of having fun and dealing with things as best one can in a stupid society is still there. When the four want to be straight up and perfectly poppy, they can and do with smashing success, with surprisingly mature, emotional lyrics and playing that doesn't rely on all-speed all the time.

grow up. More on Genius. About I Don’t Want to Grow Up. The first song off of the Ramones' final album is actually a cover of a Tom Waits song that came out 3 years prior. It’s understandable why they wanted to cover this song. The lyrical content is very in-tune with the punk lifestyle and ideals the Ramones exemplify, and the simple chord structure is a perfect fit for their sound. Johnny Ramone also chose Waits to cover Return of Jack and Judy for the We’re A Happy Family tribute album. Tommy Ramone and Tom Waits outside the Tropicana Motel on Santa Monica Boulevard.

This album contains one of the best ever written songs in rock 'n' roll history, and that is "Good Good Things". The ultimate peak in roughness and melody combined. Everything's here in 2 minutes or so.

Does anyone else have a copy which is very dark brown vinyl, only noticable under a very strong light?
Daigami
I bought this when it first came out and it came with a little sticker inside the sleeve, the dimensions were 2 by 3 or 2 by 2 inches and picture on the sticker was the cover of the record, same color to. I can't be more specific because I sold my copy years ago, but I haven't seen this mentioned. So if you have this record, check inside the sleeve, good luck.

Did anyone else notice a typo in the lyrics of Christmas Vacation on the back cover? Mine says "but why did you not talk to be" instead of "but why did you not talk to me"...?
Freighton
my f**ing copy is a misspress w/barcode.labels are inverse and in the song I Don't Want To Grow Up goes mute in right channel and it happen on other song.pal orto.

I must have the same pressing, as you. Mine is misprinted with inverse labels and the right channel goes mute aswell. Before I read your post, I was messing with the speaker wires coming out of the table, thinking my table was acting up. Im glad its the vinyl and not my table, but a little disappointed about purchasing a badly pressed record.

Can someone please confirm that they own a fluorescent yellow cover of this LP?I bought one in about 2001/2002 from SST and it is definitely not the dull yellow cover as usually seen with this LP.

The original 1985 New Alliance release was the pale yellow cover above - this is the original cover. Early pressings of the SST reissue were also this colour, however sometime in the 90's they changed to the bright yellow cover. Many of these later versions had inferior vinyl pressings as well, possibly due to worn out plates that were in need of a re-cut.
