About half this record is the complete 1933 recording session which took place when the group hit Chicago to perform at the World's Fair, and one can just imagine what a wild time the Mexican lads must have had in the Windy City. None the worse for wear, they acquit themselves admirably when the tape is rolling. The balance of the album is recordings done in Mexico City in the three years following the group's historic trip. This is the second volume in the label's series of historic Mexican music.
Throughout their history, Mariachi Coculense de Cirilo Marmolejo has traveled extensively. In 1903, they traveled to Chicago to record several tunes. They returned to the Windy City in 1933 to perform at the World's Fair. The band performed numerous times in Mexico City including a performance at a Mexican Independence Day celebration in September 1905.
