Doc Evans & His Band, Vol. 2. Audiophile Records AP-12.

The following is a listing of the jazz pianist Bill Evans' original albums. He recorded over 50 albums as a leader between 1956 and 1980 and also played as a sideman on nearly as many more. He broke new ground in many of his piano trio, duet and solo recordings. Several of those won or were nominated for Grammy Awards. Jerry Wald and his Orchestra (1953). Listen to the Music of Jerry Wald (1955). The Singing Reed (1955). A Message from Garcia (1955).

Doc Evans at the Gaslight. Other albums by Doc Evans. Manassas Memories '73. Dixieland Classics. Doc Evans 11/27/2007. Throughout the 1950s and '60s, cornetist Doc Evans kept traditional jazz and Dixieland alive in Minneapolis. Classics of the '20s had cornetist Bob Gruenenfelder added on half of the selections. His interplay with Evans is excellent. The earlier date has more Armstrong along with King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. But while Doc Evans hints at his predecessors in spots, he and his musicians simply play their own way, being creative within the boundaries of the genre and adding to the music's legacy. The music is always fun and full of spirit.
