Not sure exactly what kind of movement, or how simple pieces of paper were made to sing so brightly, but you can trust the two musicians to carry out the task. Noisy and screeching as expected, at times confrontational, at times expansive and rich in detail. Got it. + add. album.

Alfredo Costa: When I was 10 years old my father gave me an accordion and I had lessons from a friend of mine. Some years later I joined the conservatory, where I studied classic guitar for two years, but then I quit. It was such a hard discipline: during the first year one could not even touch the instrument; only theory was studied and when one is 13 his only wish is to play. The will to learn reigned supreme, but maybe a little more strictness was needed. Barbara Sansone: And yet despite that, it helped you very much, didn’t you? Alfredo Costa: Absolutely. It let me discover a lot of things. When I entered I did not know very well what I wanted to study: I was interested in art, but I did not know whether to head for history or criticism.

Cremaster, the duo project with Alfredo Costa Monteiro and Ferran Fages, comes back with Pluie Fine, a Potlach album composed and recorded between september 2010 and july 2012. Costa Monteiro (on electro-acoustic devices, speakers and electric guitar) and Fages (on feedback mixing board and electro-acoustic devices) executed this time three new pieces (all 15-minute) with violinist Angharad Davies (she recorded his violin parts in march 2012). Davies debuted his career in 2005, as side(wo)man in several collaborations.

The work of Alfredo Costa Monteiro lies between the visual arts, visual poetry and sound. The manipulation of objects as instruments and instruments as objects endows them with a profound phenomenological character. In 1992 he moved to Barcelona
