Alex North’s work for ballet, symphony orchestra, television and film continues to stand the test of time almost 25 years after his death. Although nominated 15 times for an Academy Award, it wasn’t until 1986 that he was finally given due recognition when a Lifetime Achievement Oscar was bestowed upon him. But, as this soundtrack LP so amply demonstrates, his pioneering work on Streetcar remains one of Alex North’s crowning achievements.
