1970s Music: History, Pictures & Artists. There was more variety in music in the 1970s than ever before. Music listeners had dozens of genres to choose from and many of them rose to popularity at different points during the decade. Funk, Soul, R&B, Pop, Hard Rock, Soft Rock and Disco all carved out their place in the music world in the 1970s. The late 70s also witness the birth of another young music style: hip-hop. The Rolling Stones also toured the US for the first time since 1969 in support of their iconic Exile on Main Street album. The cryptic 8-minute long song captured the hearts and minds of the entire country for the first two months of the year.

Roger Williams was classically trained and especially fond of Chopin. He plays his music in an exceptional way because of his extraordinary ability to express emotion in his music, his powerful hands, and his exceptional technique. Roger created this brilliant Chopin medley to "show the two sides of the composer.

Roger Williams rehearsing at Carnegie Hall in 2003. Many critics were less than enamored with the kind of easy listening Mr. Williams embodied, deriding his approach as bland and unchallenging. But audiences all over the world embraced his music enthusiastically. Though his musicality was apparent even when he was a toddler, Roger Williams was not always Roger Williams. What followed was a meandering path through many of the most nostalgia-inducing melodies of the last half of the 20th century, among them A Time for Us, The Impossible Dream, On a Clear Day, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head and Lara’s Theme from Dr. Zhivago. Mr. Williams is survived by two daughters, Laura Fisher of Carmel, Calif. and Alice Jung of New York, and five grandchildren.
