Race Horses - Goodbye Falkenburg. Label: Fantastic Plastic Records Release date: 18 January 2010 Race Horses MySpace On their Goodbye Falkenburg, debut album, Welsh wonders Race Horses manage to pull quite a few surprises, something you'd expect more on and third or fourth album.
Travels With Myself and Another Future of the Left. Candylion Gruff Rhys. Race Horses are Welsh. They sing some songs in English, and others in their native tongue. They make a tuneful indie-pop sound with considerable psychedelic influences. So you’re going to have to forgive us for comparing them to Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci. It’s not lazy; it’s the truth. They have clearly been influenced by their countrymen. Fortunately, though, Race Horses take the Gorky’s influence and run miles with it, showboating through psychedelia, sea shanties, folk, post-rock, electronica and pop to create a captivating debut full of songs that have been repeatedly bent out of shape.
Race Horses – Goodbye Falkenberg. By Reef Younis, 28 January 2010, 10:00 GMT. Goodbye Falkenberg. Race Horses’ insistence on breathlessly heading for the finish means the album hurtles along without ever settling, and at no point does ‘Goodbye Falkenberg’ have an obvious pause to take it all in. But when the maniacal vim of a Fuzzy Logic era Super Furries or the husky absurdity of British Sea Power come so deliriously to the fore, it seems a little petty to deny that this anything but a thoroughbred of a debut.
