Born in Germany, Oberbeck moved to London to study art at Camberwell College of Arts when in her early twenties.

The band had an underground hit with the single "Munchausen" in 2005 which was included in Radio 1 DJ's Pete Tong's "best of 2005" list and the Rough Trade best. In 2010 No Bra relocated to New York City where she recorded with a live band as well as touring the US and Europe.
