Transmissions from the Satellite Heart is the sixth studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on June 22, 1993 by Warner Bros. The album marked the departure of Jonathan Donahue (to Mercury Rev) and Nathan Roberts, and the addition of guitarist Ronald Jones and drummer Steven Drozd.

Sometimes not taking things too seriously can pay off in big ways and that it the case with most of the Flaming Lips albums. It’s infusion of psychedelia with pop on this record is great, they wouldn’t fully perfect it until 6 years later. Still however, it is a fun record with some cool and memorable moments. 80. made me put vaseline on my toast.
The Flaming Lips Are Providing Needles for Your Balloons was released the following year to promote the album and featured live versions of "Chewin the Apple of Your Eye" and "Slow,Nerve,Action". The EP's cover art was also similar to that of Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. With the exception of "She Don't Use Jelly", most songs from this album have rarely been attempted live since Ronald Jones's departure in 1996. On September 14, 2014, all the songs were played live for the first time ever.
The Flaming Lips have made their dent of the music industry and have still continued on their path in doing so. This album though I have felt has made significant strides in the mass market to be actually marketable for people to enjoy until it lacks a purpose and regains it again. I love this album and the Flaming Lips too. Great band and great songs. Check out their cover of "I Am The Walrus" (not on this album) if you get a chance.
