Born in Berlin, Germany, Christopher Franke studied classical music and composition at the Berlin Conservatory. Besides developing a love for classical music, Franke also experimented in eclectic music with the electronic/new age band Tangerine Dream between 1970 and 1987. Tangerine Dream enjoyed a very successful run, releasing over 36 albums and several motion picture soundtrack recordings. During this period, Franke released his first solo album, Pacific Coast Highway, followed by The London Concert in 1992. In 1994 he released Enchanting Nature, the positive response to that album paved the way for his biggest-selling solo effort to date, The Celestine Prophecy - A Musical Voyage which is considered by many to be one of the most creative new age albums ever produced.

Christopher Franke (born Berlin, 6 April 1953) was a member of the German electronic group Tangerine Dream with Edgar Froese and Peter Baumann from 1970. Since his departure in 1988, he has founded the Sonic Images record label, the Earthtone New Age Music label and the Berlin Symphonic Film Orchestra, and produced a number of solo works.
