The Field's second album Yesterday and Today was released via Kompakt on 18 May 2009. Rather than adhering to the strict 4x4 techno of his debut, Willner incorporated far more diverse influences for his sophomore outing: Manuel Göttsching and 1970s Krautrock, the disco of Giorgio Moroder, the soundtrack works of director John Carpenter, and minimalist composers Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The entirety of From Here We Go Sublime sounds like that. Like both a challenge for Willner and an inevitability. And perhaps what is most impressive is Willner's confidence in the face of such ambition. The production always sounds under control, never forced. He manages to incorporate basic electronic elements - like, for example, heavy sampling - without calling attention to them. Most of the samples here are looped woman's vocals, usually cut to one simple note and repeated over and over. He uses that influence the way it should be used, sparingly, and uses it to his greatest advantage. With From Here We Go Sublime, Willner has crafted an electronic album that is utterly original and not easily forgotten. field Axel Willner electronic music the field from here we go sublime.

Sublime, subliminal, this album really sorts out the people with a good ear for music from those who don't. Anything that gets such people into such a reactionary fever is usually really good. If this is the best album of 2007 we should all pack up and go home. Electronic music has never sounded this dull. 0 of 1 users found this helpful.

When Kompakt released the album in 2007 to considerable acclaim, it arrived on CD in full and with only a smattering of the tracks on a sampler.

As the years go by and with the question what track plays when my funeral is my heart beats more and more for the track 'Good things end' because it speaks out of my soul but the title is a problem in this case because I cannot say that I have been a good thing...The track is outstanding and a jewel and it must been a unique moment Axel Willner could do this. His soul must compose it directly and s.t like this happens once in lifetime. Although some other could think what a simple track concept - exactly this is it: It don't need much but the kiss of the idea. For me its no relaxing - its love its fate its the world coming down and its the uprising of the sun

It takes a few listens to realize it; and some patience to back it up, but The Field's first full length is one of the most beautiful electronic albums of the decade. Tracks such as everday, over the ice, and the little heart beats so fast make my heart twist. I couldn't ask for an album with such pleasures. It is pure, intricately woven, electronic bliss.
