Back Door is the eponymously titled debut studio album of Back Door, released independently in 1972 by Blakey Records. It received wider distribution when it was adopted by Warner Bros. It introduced the group's virtuoso approach to jazz, funk, soul, blues and hard rock music. In 2005, the album was listed on JazzTimes' top fifty albums released between 1970 and 2005. In 2014 it was re-released on CD, compiled with 8th Street Nites and Another Fine Mess, by BGO Records.

Released by the band on the Blakey label in 1972 and then re-released by Warner in 1973, this instrumental album is impressive from start to finish, and a veritable catalog of bass guitar technique. Aspery's funky sax and flute work leaves the bottom end completely open to the bass guitar, and Hodgkinson's use of strummed chords is ably backed by his bandmates on the squalling opener "Vienna Breakdown. The mel-low fon-kay bass solo, "Lieutenant Loose," makes effective use of ringing open strings, while "Slivadiv" is a fret-hammering delight.

Alice in Chains released their second album Dirt on September 29, 1992. The cover featured an eerie image of a girl half buried in the desert dirt by photographer Rocky Schneck. It is assumed by most Alice in Chains fans that the model used for the album cover was Layne Staley’s girlfriend Demri Parrott. Although she looks exactly like Demri, the actual model used for the album cover is model/actress Mariah O’Brien. Back Door biography British jazz-rock trio founded in 1971 by Colin Hodgkinson (bass), Ron Aspery (sax) and Tony Hicks (dr). Still in 1969 Colin Hodgkinson and Ron Aspery both played in Eric Delaney's band on summer season at the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth. After summer season, they moved to London, working at a Mecca ballroom at night. Colin joined Alexis Corner's band. Yet another album by Back Door that today sounds a bit out of fashion.
