Africaine 808's first EP for Phil South's Golf Channel label, the double A-side Lagos, New York/Zombie Jamboree, was arguably one of the releases of 2014 - a sublime 12" that joined the dots between Konk, early Latin house, techno and Afro-disco. Hopes are naturally high, then, for this follow-up. Jan Schulte provides the obligatory remix under his Wolf Muller.

Ahead of their highly anticipated debut LP due on Golf Channel this fall, the Berlin duo drop this little taster. The heavy, percussion driven analogue sound that is their trademark comes in two tight packages. The title track is all snaky rhythms and squelchy riffing and comes complete with exactly the kind of dense, break heavy remix that we would expect from compatriot, and top buddy of the band, Wolf Muller. Flipside Revanche is a sunnier affair, deft touches on the acoustic guitar and lighter percussion, but no less the party starter because of it. Golf Channel every time !

Dirk Leyers, one half of Africaine 808 alongside DJ Nomad, was once part of another duo, Closer Musik. The title track is a dense yet meticulous scaffolding of rhythm; it's a wonder that, with so much going on, not a single shaker or hi-hat gets lost in the melee of percussion. Wolf Müller pours luxurious reverb and dribbling congas into his slow and hypnotic remix. It literally feels made from nature-birdcalls, grunts and water drops do as much work as Müller's fleshy drumkit to sustain the track's shuffling gait.

Berlin duo Africaine 808's latest jam, 'Rhythm Is All You Can Dance', certainly lives up its name. The duo are known for fusing dance with West African sounds, as previously heard on tracks such as 'Lagos New York' and 'Tummy Tummy'. Rhythm Is All You Can Dance' gradually builds with staple African drum patterns and rhythms, but at the two-minute mark, they ramp up the reverberations - resulting in a full-on Berlin club experience.

No separate page for the repress? Would be nice to separate the original from the repress...
I found a copy online at sounds of the universe. Give it a try, I think they still have some left!
Wolf Mueller Remix is so insanely good. After a straight period of recent superb release and remixes this is his most acidic one. twiddling the acid real right and with his always laidback but serious grooves in addition this makes it to a real gem. But also the two originals by Africaine 808 are real top notch bangesr. The A-side more upfront and that revanche track more NY 90's House.
B-Side is 33 rpm not 45 rpm as printed on the label. But the Wolf Müller Remix is excellent in 45, too :)
