SOS" was the third single from Swedish pop group ABBA's self-titled 1975 album, their third for Polar Music and their second for Epic and Atlantic. It was released with "Man in the Middle" as the B-side. Agnetha Fältskog, who sang lead, recorded the song in Swedish on her 1975 solo album Elva kvinnor i ett hus. "SOS" was ABBA's first major worldwide hit since "Waterloo".

It was originally released on 21 April 1975 through Polar Music and featured the hits "Mamma Mia" and "SOS". Following the Eurovision success of "Waterloo", ABBA saw the band gaining worldwide recognition. I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" topped the charts in Australia, as did "Mamma Mia" shortly after. SOS" and "Mamma Mia" became hits in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Cher has returned with another taste of her forthcoming album of ABBA covers, Dancing Queen. This time, she tackles the Swedish pop group’s 1975 hit SOS. Much like previous release Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! A Man After Midnight, Cher adds a clubbier touch to this ABBA track. Above the piano that carries the tender, emotional choruses is a subtle beat building up. Her powerful deliver is accented with echoes throughout the song along with touches of the Believe -era vocoder she teased with Gimme! Dancing Queen will be Cher’s 26th album.
