is the debut album released by the Swiss thrash metal band Coroner on 1 June 1987. This album marks the first chapter of the band's progression (thus it is less focused) and is characterized by raw speed and power (save for the instrumentals), very typical of thrash metal at this time. All songs written and arranged by Ron Broder & Tommy Vetterli, except where noted; All lyrics written by Marky Edelmann, except where noted. Ron Broder (as Ron Royce) - Vocals, Bass.
Coroner, in my opinion, have always been an example of a band who were excellent from the word go. . P is the quintessential example of a band whom had a distinct sound and style down from the debut, onward. It’s not as outwardly progressive as the albums following it, instead opting for a more straightforward thrash metal sound. In addition to the incredible riffwork, Tommy Vetterli turns in the lead guitar performance of a career on this album, with a uniquely neo-classical touch to his soloing style.
P is not thrash in the most typical sense. In fact, the songs on this album are at their least interesting when they resort to playing more standard thrash metal riffs which don't appear too often. Any ordinary riff that appears is quickly replaced with the Veterelli's mind blowing rhythm guitar which is riddled with tasteful licks. Coroner play high speed neo-classical tinged thrash riffs with virtuosic leads and solos. The tempo is almost entirely fast paced throughout except on the interludes. An intro a few interludes and an outro give . some variety and a nice melodic atmosphere. uses a guitar picking style I have only heard on a few other thrash albums mainly Destructions Eternal Devastation and Coroners next album Punishment For Decadence.
album represented a pretty inconspicuous start for Swiss trio Coroner - one whose modest ambitions they would quickly outdistance on their way to morphing into one of thrash metal's all-time most adventurous bands
A promising start for the group, and a sign of things to come. A full-length album, '. was recorded a year later, and the album showcased the band's instrumental abilities, as well as establishing Coroner as a force to be reckoned with in the thrash metal arena. The production is very raw, but sounds well mixed - the bass is clearly audible, and the other instruments aren't too overpowering, neither are they weak or thin sounding
Listen to music from Coroner like Masked Jackal, Semtex Revolution & more. Find the latest tracks, albums, and images from Coroner. They garnered relatively little attention outside of Europe. With their increasingly complex style of progressive rock-infused thrash, they are often labeled as "the Rush of thrash metal" by music critics.
Coroner RIP, Coroner RIP Full Album, Coroner, Rip, Rest In Peace, . fecking great album! m/. Shreddy Krueger Remasters.
