Lord Rhaburn Combo was formed in Belize City, Belize on August 6, 1959 by Gerald Rhaburn. At first they played only native calypso music, giving many concerts in Belize. Within a year they had become the foremost group in Belize. Their first trip outside of their own country was to Guatemala City, Guatemala, where they were enthusiastically received. They made appearances on TV, in the theater, and at dances - later acquiring a style all their own, playing three types of music - Caribbean, Latin American, and American.

Gerald "Lord" Rhaburn is a Belizean calypso, soca, reggae and brukdown musician. He became famous when performing with the Lord Rhaburn Combo in the 1970s and 1980s. Rhaburn has toured frequently abroad promoting Belizean music. In 2004 he hosted the first Lord Rhaburn Music Awards, an annual Belizean music awards show.
