Fats Waller And His Rhythm. The Complete Fats Waller, Volume III (1935-1936) (2xLP, Comp). Bluebird (3). AXM2-5583.
Volume III features many fine solos by trumpeter Herman Autrey and Gene Sedric on tenor and clarinet, has three examples of Fats Waller's exciting big band (which on "I Got Rhythm" finds Waller "battling" fellow pianist Henry Duncan) and contains quite a few memorable recordings including "Got a Bran' New Suit," "I've Got My Fingers Crossed" and "All My Life. Throughout even the weakest selection, Fats Waller's powerful stride piano and verbal interjections really drive the ensembles.

Thomas Wright "Fats" Waller (May 21, 1904 – December 15, 1943) was an American jazz pianist, organist, composer, violinist, singer, and comedic entertainer. His innovations in the Harlem stride style laid the groundwork for modern jazz piano. His best-known compositions, "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Honeysuckle Rose", were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1984 and 1999.
