A sought after early Wolf Eyes album back on vinyl and CD for the first time in 17 years. Originally released on Hanson Records, American Tapes and Bulb Records in 2001. The result is a freak classic for the ages. Born in the dead, dread-filled haunted hills of Michigan, Wolf Eyes are the rabid beasts of Trip Metal & have been plowing thru new tunnels of the underworld since 1997. Pure audio stunn, homemade post-nuclear terror & claustrophobic atmospheres - the most shattered and confusing horrorvision since Bo Diddley dropped the duct taped warhead on all humans in 2024.

Dread is a murderers' row of grimy, shambling, and ruined delights, featuring two absolute monster bookends with no filler or half-baked experiments in between. This album is broken, thuggish, and ugly in all the best ways–I cannot think of any other Wolf Eyes album quite as simultaneously focused and inspired as this one. Lower Floors.

Despite all the Godflesh-meets-Lull type comparisons that are constantly thrown around about this group, Dread shows this Michigan trio moving deeper into their world of electronic trickery and away from even the slightest hint of standard songwriting. The key to this recording is length, as the songs sacrifice songcraft for building interesting sonic structures to support the rantings of Nathan Young. And Young is the glue holding this thing together; without his occasional yelps, the album would collapse under its own pretentiousness

Despite all the Godflesh-meets-Lull type comparisons that are constantly thrown around about this group, Dread shows this Michigan trio moving deeper into their world of electronic trickery and away from even the slightest hint of standard songwriting. And Young is the glue holding this thing together; without his occasional yelps, the album would collapse under its own pretentiousness. Elsewhere, the album sounds like the listener is trapped in a metal barrel that is slowly rolling down a hill, with the exact same sounds burrowing into the brain until it becomes near unbearable to keep listening.
