Alan Price (born 19 April 1942) is an English musician, best known as the original keyboardist for the British band the Animals and for his subsequent solo work. Price was born in Fatfield, Washington, County Durham, and was educated at Jarrow Grammar School, County Durham. He is a self-taught musician and was a founding member of the Tyneside group "The Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo", which was later renamed the Animals.

The first album, The Price to Play, sounds like is was a reflection of his club set of the time - lots of r&b songs, some fairly obscure, a Righteous Bros. hit (Just Once in My Life), jazzman Oliver Nelson's Critic's Choice," and a funky version of the standard Hi-Lili Hi Lo drawn from left field. He sings and plays keyboards, and is accompanied by a sall group including saxophonist Boots Slade. A Price on his Head, the second album, is more wide-ranging: Price has starter writing, and seven of the thirteen songs are Newman compositions. There's also another Mann-Weil.
