Punkara is the sixth studio album by the collective Asian Dub Foundation. It was recorded with The Go! Team producer, Gareth Parton at The Fortress Studios, London. It is the first album released with new singer Al Rumjen formerly of King Prawn. There was an advanced release in Japan on 26 March 2008, and it was subsequently leaked worldwide. Punkara was released in the UK on the 13 October 2008 with a different track listing to the Japanese release which featured an exclusive bonus track

On Punkara, the group still sounds like a bunch of rebels who are here to bring down the musical conventions of the Western world and then proceed to a full-scale revolution, but they also follow the conventions they've established themselves - off-beat reggae rhythms are fused with almost jungle-like electronic beats, punkish guitars are buried under Middle Eastern.

Asian Dub Foundation (ADF) is an English electronica band that combines musical styles including rapcore, dub, dancehall, ragga, and South Asian music. The group also includes traditional rock instruments such as electric bass and guitar, which acknowledges a punk rock influence. Their music is known for its dub-inspired basslines, guitar parts inspired by the traditional Indian instrument the sitar, and fast rapping.
