The Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", Op. 95, B. 178 (Czech: Symfonie č. 9 e moll „Z nového světa ), popularly known as the New World Symphony, was composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It is by far his most popular symphony, and one of the most popular of all symphonies.

Dvorák: Symphony N. In E Minor, O. 5, . 78 - "From The New World" - 2. Largo by Berliner Philharmoniker and Rafael Kubelik. 5. 30. Dvorák: Symphony N. 78 - "From The New World" - 3. Scherzo (Molto vivace). by Berliner Philharmoniker and Rafael Kubelik. Scherzo (Molto vivace) by Berliner Philharmoniker and Rafael Kubelik. I can't claim to be expert enough in these works to judge all nine symphonies comprehensively but I will offer one familiar point of comparison - in the opening movement of Symphony 9, I prefer Kubelik's somewhat faster tempo to Kertész, and I also strongly prefer the performance of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, particularly the horns and percussion, over the London Philharmonic.

Our orchestra is wholly self funded and hiring music is expensive and for a limited time too. Having pieces like this means we can rehearse more each year which is great for the players and the community we come from.
