Bill Nelson and Daryl Runswick? Never heard of either. Scala? Brond? No idea. Nelson and Runswick appear to be fascinating figures in English music spanning over the past half-century or so. In 1987 they collaborated to write the theme to a Channel Four three-part series called Brond (based on a book I'd never heard of by Frederic Lindsay, a writer I'd never heard of). In case you'd like to hear the theme, you could do so right here. or right here, in context, as you watch the actual dang show. And holy crap, just try to watch the first four minutes and not get sucked into this madness.
Track from from Bill Nelson and Daryl Runswick aka Scala on Cocteau Records (1987, COQ T21) - by popular demand, this is the B-side. 2 years ago I managed to get a copy of all three episodes of 'Brond' which were home-transferred from VHS to DVD. It still holds up and is 'dark' and hugely enjoyable. Joseph Canteloube's Chants d'Auvergne Baïlèro was also used in the series and a beautiful version is also on YouTube.

By Scala featuring Bill Nelson and Daryl Runswick. The additional track was. "Wiping a Tear from the All seeing Eye". The disc was issued on Cocteau Records Ltd. Vocals were by a Mary King and the Electronic Pheonix. The two songs are Secret Ceremony and Wiping A Tear From The All Seeing Eye. One member was Bill Nelson. I was digging through my record collection and played this for a friend who loved it. So once and for all, I decided to find out what Brond was in the first place and came here.
