Purple Rain is the sixth studio album by American singer, songwriter, producer, and t Prince. It is the first to feature the billing of his band the Revolution, and is the soundtrack to the 1984 film of the same name. The album was released on June 25, 1984, by Warner Bros. In the United States the album debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 the week of July 14, 1984 with approximately . million copies sold.

Prince designed Purple Rain as the project that would make him a superstar, and, surprisingly, that is exactly what happened. Simultaneously more focused and ambitious than any of his previous records, Purple Rain finds Prince consolidating his funk and R&B roots while moving boldly into pop, rock, and heavy metal with nine superbly crafted songs. First up, the proper album gets a needed remaster - it sounds fuller and livelier, not simply louder - and then the DVD is the first digital release of the home video Prince and the Revolution, Live at the Carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY, March 30, 1985, a concert from the tail end of the Purple Rain tour. The real finds are on the second disc, which rounds up ten outtakes from the Purple Rain sessions, adding the movie instrumental "Father's Song" - a moody variation on the "Computer Blue" guitar solo - for good measure.

The Black Album is the sixteenth studio album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on November 22, 1994, by Warner Bros.

This is Prince with no second chances, no prospect of retakes and no overdubs. Prince - the purple era - the very best of 1985-'91. Play In The Sunshine.

Prince supported the album with the Purple Rain Tour, his most extensive to date, and the first billed as Prince and the Revolution. Every song on the album was played regularly on the tour, which comprised of 100 shows throughout the United States, also including two shows in Canada.
