The six Cello Suites, BWV 1007-1012, are suites for unaccompanied cello by Johann Sebastian Bach. They are some of the most frequently performed and recognizable solo compositions ever written for cello. Recorded with a pair of Brüel & Kjaer microphones by Yves-Bernard André in the castle of Grignan (Drôme) on Suites 1, 2, and 6, and the castle of Maison-Laffitte (Yvellines) for Suites 3, 4, and 5. Played on a cello made in 1696 by Joseph Guarneri.
