Every track that Sam Collins recorded at the end of the '20s and early in the '30s is included on Document's Complete Recorded Works (1927-1931). Although the comprehensiveness of the set is a little intimidating for casual listeners - they should stick with the better-sequenced Jailhouse Blues - historians will find the collection invaluable.

Sam Collins (August 11, 1887 – October 20, 1949), sometimes known as Crying Sam Collins and also (according to an authoritative source) as Jim Foster, Jelly Roll Hunter, Big Boy Woods, Bunny Carter, and Salty Dog Sam, was an early American blues singer and guitarist. By 1924 he was performing in local barrelhouses, often with King Solomon Hill; both of them sang falsetto parts and played slide guitar . 1927, Richmond, Indiana. The Jailhouse Blues".
