Stefano Battaglia (born 1965 in Milan) is an Italian classical and jazz pianist. He has played extensively on the international circuit, performing as a soloist with the European Youth Orchestra in Barcelona (1981), and winning the ". Bach Festival" award in Düsseldorf as the best new pianist of the year (1986) and the Brussels National Radio Award as the best young European pianist (1997). He has taught at major Italian jazz seminars such as the "Siena Jazz" summer program.

Battaglia has collaborated with a range of jazz musicians from Kenny Wheeler to Lee Konitz, from Barre Phillips to a number of musicians active on the Italian scene, including frequent collaborator bassist Paolino Dalla Porta. He has also taught jazz for a number of years in Siena. Battaglia has led more than 15 recordings in settings ranging from solo (such as Baptism and the Swiss Radio Tapes releases) to his 16-piece ensemble Theatrum (heard on three 1997 recordings, including Gesti). Dominique Pifarély (born 1957) is a French jazz violinist. He works in avant-garde jazz, but he has also worked in post-bop and other contexts.
