DJ EZ and Todd Edwards have both been in the game longer than I care to remeber, Todd mixing up smashed up vocals and EZ playing more of a two step flava, which is cool. This time, the guys have decided to go for the more upbeat garage, 4 to the floor beats, messed up R&B vocals and no sign of dodgy commercial garage, something which I admire of EZ, Todd and the record company. Fourth Floor was a major US player in supporting the London garage scene in the late Nineties. Responsible for very early releases from Todd Terry using the aliases Black Riot and Masters at Work (a name he later passed on to Louie and Kenny) the imprint also released seminal classics like Fallout ‘The Morning After’ and Arnold Jarvis ‘Take Some Time Out’, both of which made the cut for this 4 To The Floor compilation.

This week, legendary US house and garage producer Todd Edwards takes time out from working on his new vocal-led album to wax lyrical about UK garage DJ and old friend DJ EZ. I consider him my biggest fan. He’s been supporting me since back in the '90s. Usually I get on my knees and pray that I go on before him-and I just found I am on before him at Warm Up-because no one goes on after EZ, not unless you’re looking to feel depressed. You can’t match his energy; he hits the crowd’s G-spot. He’s a technical DJ but he’s a great selector, too-c’mon, the combination of the two? It is an art form.
