UK instrumental band SKY playing electric treatment of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor". Group specialised in fusing a variety of musical styles including light rock, progressive rock, classical and jazz. Audio version appeared on the band's second album "Sky 2" released in 1980. The latter was released as a single (under the name of "Toccata") and reached number 6 in the national pop charts, giving the band the opportunity of performing on Top Of The Pops.

Sky is the debut album by the supergroup Sky, released in 1979. Sky 2 is the second album by English/Australian instrumental progressive rock band Sky, released in 1980. Despite being a double album it reached number one in the British Album charts, and at the time was the fastest double album to receive platinum status in the UK, while the instrumental single "Toccata" peaked at 5 in the British Singles Chart. Francis Monkman played guitar on the 20-minute rock suite "FIFO" because, in his words, "I felt it necessary to inject a grunge element"

SKY 2 was a fine achievement, featuring the hit single ‘Toccata’, and topped the UK album charts upon its release. For the band’s third album, STEVE GRAY replaced Francis Monkman on keyboards, but the band continued their run of success as SKY 3 reached the UK top ten upon its release in March 1981. The albums SKY 4, SKY FIVE LIVE and CADMIUM continued the run of best-selling albums, following which JOHN WILLIAMS departed the band in December 1983. In March 1985, the album The Great Balloon Race was recorded in Australia and the UK, becoming another hit album.
