The Beatles taped a performance of this song that was broadcast on an episode of Ed Sullivan Show that aired September 12, 1965 (the last Ed Sullivan show broadcast in black and white). Their mellow version was released as the duo's first single and included on their first album, which was also called Ticket To Ride.

Ticket To Ride was the first song to be released from Help!, The Beatles' fifth album. The group's performance of the song, filmed on the ski slopes in Austria, was one of the highlights of the Help! film. I was with The Beatles when they went back to Hamburg in June 1966 and it was then that John told me that he had coined the phrase 'a ticket to ride' to describe these cards.
