But Seriously, Folks. is the fourth studio album by the American singer-songwriter and t Joe Walsh. The album was released in mid 1978, on the label Asylum. It included the satirical song "Life's Been Good".
As far as studio albums go, But Seriously Folks is Joe Walsh's most insightful and melodic. But Seriously Folks, released in 1978, was the album the Eagles should have made rather than the mediocre The Long Run. It captures a reflective song cycle along the same thematic lines of Pet Sounds, only for the '70s

The cover of the But Seriously Folks album shows Walsh eating a meal. Source: professional guitarist and huge Joe Walsh fan. Alan from Caboolture, AustraliaI'm sure that the original lyrics to this song included "I lock the doors in case I get drunk," but were changed to avoid controversy. Has anyone else heard this, and even better, is there a video on youtube that contains those lyrics?

What they should have done is gone with Joe Walsh and recorded "But Seriously Folks" as an Eagles album and perhaps supplemented it with some of the superior material from "The Long Run". It's clear that Walsh's involvement in the Eagles had rubbed off on him. Even if they hadn't appeared on the album, "But Seriously Folks" sounds like it could have been an Eagles album. There isn't a bad song on this album. Each track is a gem. But of course, standing head and shoulders above all this, is the classic "Life's Been Good", Walsh at his satiric best. I bought the 24 KT + Gold Audio Fidelity version, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman. Sound wise, it's warm and full-bodied, more organic in feel than the regular CD version.
Joe Walsh found his greatest solo success with But Seriously, Folks in 1978, although solo is used loosely here. The versatile rocker did have help from all four members of his (then) current band The Eagles as well as a prime member of his former backing group Barnstorm. In fact, some have called this the album the Eagles should have made because it was released at a time when the next Eagles album (eventually The Long Run) and Walsh’s leftover track In the City was eventually used on that band album.
