John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together is an album of Christmas music performed by John Denver and the Muppets, which includes many songs seen later in the TV special of the same name. According to Denver's note from the 1996 CD version, the album was recorded first and led to the TV special. The album was recorded in Britain, and the TV special was videotaped in the United States; as a result, some of the performers and songs differ.

The special opens with Denver and the Muppets singing "The Twelve Days of Christmas". This album, originally released on RCA Records in October 1979, was re-released on Denver's own Windstar label in 2000 as an abridged ten-track version; the original full-length CD was subsequently re-released in its entirety in 2006. The previously missing tracks are "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "When the River Meets the Sea", and "Little Saint Nick".

The Muppets' loud rendition of "Little St. Nick" and Miss Piggy's folky "Christmas is Coming" are lively fun. Two or three of the quieter songs achieve a sort of poignant fireside prettiness (especially "It's In Every One of Us"). Denver is typically over-earnest, even when surrounded by talking animals, but younger listeners won't mind.

John Denver plays it very low key and everythings works extraordinarily well. Silent Night" is charming. This album is an easy listen for the holidays. A good balance of traditional tunes with contemporary songs gives the listener a nice 45 minutes of holiday spirit.
