In June 1957, following the recent deaths of both Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, the existing Dorsey band was now under the direction of Lee Castle and was riding high with its recent million-selling hit So Rare, which had been issued under Jimmy Dorsey’s name and had featured Jimmy on sax. One side of the follow-up single was the rather rockin’ instrumental Jay-Dee’s Boogie Woogie (see separate post), and on this side was-like So Rare -another update of a 1930s song. June Night features the Artie Malvin Singers and Dick Stabile with a Dorsey-style alto sax solo
