The White Birch is a Norwegian slowcore project of Ola Fløttum. Previously a trio composed of Ola Fløttum, Hans Christian Almendingen, and Ulf Rogde, the band released three studio albums and then broke up after the band played their last show in 2006. However, Ola Fløttum released their fourth album "The Weight Of Spring" in 2015, nearly ten years after their last release. The name comes from the 1994 album The White Birch by the band Codeine, one of the cornerstones of slowcore. They are sometimes called the "Norwegian Sigur Ró. The Weight Of Spring" (2015).

When White Sun’s second album White Sun II was released in 2016, it reached on the Billboard New Age chart. Six months later, White Sun’s music had garnered over one million streams and a Global Music Award. Called a breakout New Age hit by the Los Angeles Times, White Sun II captured a Grammy win for Best New Age Album in 2017, besting Enya. In 2018, the band released White Sun Gong, a full-length album of solo Gong playing by Harijiwan that reached on the Billboard New Age Chart

The most remarkable thing about the White Album to me is the amazing diversity of music contained within its tracks. I can't think of another record that comes close to matching it for the sheer diversity of styles and sounds. If you are bored listening to this one or can't find anything you like, well, you're a tough nut to crack. While I agree this is not an CD of their more famous tunes, many of the tunes on it are still (IMO) great and memorable. But when I listen to it I just marvel at how one band can put out such a smorgasbord of music that is so completely different and. but you cant collect the hi res.
