The 1st Album is the debut studio album by German duo Modern Talking. It was released on 1 April 1985 by Hansa Records. The album peaked at number one in Germany on 27 May 1985, spending four weeks atop the chart and 18 weeks within the top 10. It was eventually certified platinum by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI), denoting shipments in excess of 500,000 copies in Germany.

The 1st Album is the debut album by Modern Talking, released in the middle of 1985 in Germany. It was released by Hansa Records and distributed by Ariola/BMG. The first single peaked at No. 1 in many countries, including Germany (where it spent four weeks at the top), Switzerland and Austria. Modern Talking worked together from 1983 to 1987, when the band split up. In 1997, they reunited and made a successful comeback, recording and releasing music from 1998 to 2003 before they broke up for the final time. Modern Talking were always used to release only one or two singles from each album and it's such a shame since there are a lot of songs here which are begging for more single releases. Lucky Guy with its thumping bass, Diamonds Never Made A Lady with its killer synth, the lovely Bells of Paris. Even the tracks who are not worthy of becoming singles are still endearing and a joy to listen to : The night is yours, the night is mine, Do you wanna, so many very good tracks. This is what some of the best 80's songs sounded like. It's almost the perfect album.

Their first comeback album Back for Good, which included four new tracks, as well as all of the previous hits redone with modern techniques, stayed at number one in Germany for five consecutive weeks and managed to top the charts in fifteen countries, eventually selling three million copies in Europe alone.
