Sugar Daddy’ became one of the biggest club hits of 1993, with Wonder being hailed as the sexiest singer in dance music. It opened all the doors, says Kris, who became Primal Scream's tour DJ for the next couple of years. We collaborated with Leftfield on ‘Anything You Want’ as Delta Lady, and I embarked on a remixing and DJing career for the next few years. It took us to play fabulous clubs like Slam, Back To Basics and Bugged Out!, and we got to tell the whole ‘Sugar Daddy’ story on an album for Deconstruction before calamity struck, as it often does.

The work of Kris Needs and Wonder under their Secret Knowledge guise, Sugar Daddy was one of the standout moments of early 90s UK progressive house. On the original version, those busy chants, whooshing sound effects and Wonder s pre orgasmic mutterings still get spines tingling, nearly 25 years later. The same can be said of the legendary Out Of Our Brains On The . 5 mix. Re mastered for this re issue, its jittery piano keys and rolling drums exude a similar energy to Hardfloor s reshape of Mory Kante s Yeke Yeke  . Secret Knowledge's hit SUGAR DADDY gets a complement of remixes here. Paul van Dyk and Johnny Klimek get two mixes, with the "Trip to the Moon Remix" going for the trance blips, and their "Trip Across the Moon Remix" going for a spacier feel

Secret Knowledge's hit SUGAR DADDY gets a complement of remixes here. Paul van Dyk and Johnny Klimek get two mixes, with the "Trip to the Moon Remix" going for the trance blips, and their "Trip Across the Moon Remix" going for a spacier feel. Meanwhile, Ashley Beedle and David Holmes, as the Disco Evangelists, go deep and steady for their "Out of Our Brains on the 5:15" mix. Kris Needs also gives himself two mixes: the "Blue" mix adds an appropriately bluesy synth and double bass to accompany the vocals, taking it out of club territory and into a smoky lounge, but the "Sugar Caned" mix brings it right back onto the floor, harder and more trancey than the original. Plenty of sugar to rot your teeth here.
