Liberty is the sixth studio album by English new wave Duran Duran. It was released on 20 August 1990 by Parlophone. The album reached number eight on the UK Albums Chart, and spawned the singles "Violence of Summer (Love's Taking Over)" and "Serious".

English new wave band Duran Duran have released fourteen studio albums, four live albums, four compilation albums, two remix albums, two box sets, seven EPs, thirty-nine singles, and fourteen video albums. Duran Duran have sold over 100 million records. The band have achieved UK top-five albums in four different decades (1980s to 2010s), and US top-10 albums in three different decades (1980s, 1990s and 2010s).

Apart from the greatest-hits collection Decade, Big Thing was the lowest-charting Duran Duran album to date, prompting the band to rework its sound for 1990's Liberty. Unfortunately, the group has no idea what direction it wants to pursue. Liberty features everything from disco to guitar rock, adding elements of Motown, Philly soul, and new wave along the way. The stylistic diversity may have worked if the band had material to support it, but nothing on the record matches their best work - it doesn't even match the finest moments of Big Thing.
