Maggot Brain is the third studio album by the American funk band Funkadelic. It was recorded at United Sound Systems in Detroit during late 1970 and early 1971, before being released in July 1971 by Westbound Records. Shortly after Maggot Brain was recorded, Tawl Ross, Eddie Hazel, Billy Nelson, and Tiki Fulwood left the band for various reasons.

For "Suckcess Pool," original singer Bizz Zerk has left the group and guitarist Vik Kaos assumes full time vocal duty.On this record, the band's history of smart/funny lyrics continues. The songs have a caustic pop edge to them not present on their first record, the "Dead To My World" 7" and the overall recording quality shows improvement. The title track has a bit of a Dead Kennedys feel. "Killer In The Senate" has a sort of herky-jerky rhythm that makes me pay attention. But my favorite song is "Termination." I love the way the vocals get kind of bunched up on the line, "I received notification of my impending termination." Vik delivers this line with hilarious mock panic that gets me every time."Suckcess Pool" gets a solid 4 from me and hints that the best is yet to come -- the band's debut LP released the following year, one of Florida's true gems.
