Get It Together, was a 1973 album released by The Jackson 5 for the Motown label. During the group's last years with Motown, the label struggled to come up with material for the group. As a result, the Jackson 5 fell into a period from 1973 to 1974 where they scored no Top 10 singles. By this point, most of the Jackson 5's members, and their manager Joseph Jackson, were vocally complaining about the group's direction, with Michael Jackson becoming the most vocal. The only member not to complain about Motown's handling of the act was Jermaine Jackson, who would marry Motown.
Get It Together" is a song written by Hal Davis, Don Fletcher, Berry Gordy, Mel Larson, and Jerry Marcellino and sung by The Jackson 5 in 1973. It is the title track from their album, Get It Together. It peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was performed on the Bob Hope Show (26th September, 1973), Soul Train (3rd November, 1973), One More Time (10th January, 1974) and The Jacksons TV Series (9th February, 1977). ABC is the second studio album by the Jackson 5 and was issued on May 8, 1970, by Motown Records. It featured the No. 1 singles, "ABC" and "The Love You Save". Also present on the LP are several notable album tracks including a cover of Funkadelic's "I'll Bet You", "I Found That Girl" (the only lead song from brother Jermaine), and "The Young Folks" originally recorded by the Diana Ross-led version of the Supremes.
The five Jackson brothers' interest in music was bolstered by their father Joe Jackson. The brothers focused on the emerging disco craze and recorded the song "Get It Together", followed by their hit "Dancing Machine", their first to crack the top ten since "Sugar Daddy" nearly three years before. Despite those successes, most of the Jackson 5's follow-ups were not as successful, and Joe Jackson grew tired of Motown's uneasiness to continue producing hits for the brothers by 1973.
