Tchaikovsky's breathtaking Violin Concerto, with its song-like solo part, winning melodies and brilliant orchestration, has become one of the most popular of all concertos in the standard repertoire. It is coupled with three lesser known gems: the Sérénade mélancolique, by turns sombre and tender in feeling, the captivating Valse-scherzo and Glazunov's orchestration of teh Souvenir d'un lieu cher.
