The Trio is a 1961 live album by the Oscar Peterson Trio, recorded at the London House jazz club in Chicago. Three other albums were recorded by Peterson and his trio at the London House, Something Warm, The Sound of the Trio, and Put On a Happy Face. The complete music recorded by the trio at these sessions was released in 1997. I've Never Been in Love Before" (Frank Loesser) – 5:35. In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning" (Bob Hilliard, David Mann) – 8:07. Chicago" (Fred Fisher) – 8:55.
This first matchup on records between pianist Oscar Peterson and vibraphonist Milt Jackson was so logical that it is surprising it did not occur five years earlier. Originally recorded for Verve and three decades later reissued on this audiophile CD by Mobile Fidelity, the quartet set (which also includes bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen) swings as hard as one might expect. Highlights include "On Green Dolphin Street," "The Work Song," "John Brown's Body" (a jam on "Battle Hymn of the Republic") and "Reunion Blues.

NotesIdentical to release The Oscar Peterson Trio With Milt Jackson - Very Tall, with STEREO, MGM Records A Division... Made in U.S.A. etc. - except that it does not have the sailor's cap in the runout! Otherwise all other notes are also assumably valid:
Same label as the first '62 US mono version Oscar Peterson Trio* With Milt Jackson - Very Tall "Oscar Peterson Trio WITH Milt Jackson", but with STEREO mentioned. Maybe the first US stereo version?
