Melissa is the third album by Melissa Manchester, released on the Arista Records label in 1975. It reached on the Billboard Albums chart on the strength of her first . Top Ten hit "Midnight Blue" (.In 2001 the album was re-released. We've Got Time" (Manchester, Carole Bayer Sager). Party Music" (Manchester, David Wolfert). Just Too Many People" (Manchester, Vini Poncia). Stevie's Wonder" (Manchester, Carole Bayer Sager). This Lady's Not Home Today" (Manchester, Carole Bayer Sager).

Melissa Manchester (born February 15, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Since the 1970s, her songs have been carried by adult contemporary radio stations. She has also appeared on television, in films, and on stage. Manchester was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City, to a musical family. Her father was a bassoonist for the New York Metropolitan Opera.

Greatest Hits (Melissa Manchester album). Greatest Hits is the first compilation album released by American singer Melissa Manchester. It was issued by Arista Records in 1983, shortly after the release of Manchester's biggest hit, the new wave top 10 hit "You Should Hear How She Talks About You".

The Melissa Manchester album also featured Manchester's own version of the Kenny Loggins hit she'd co-written: "Whenever I Call You Friend", which Manchester recorded as a duet with Arnold McCuller. Both the singles from the Melissa Manchester album were outside material: released three weeks prior to the album, "Pretty Girls" was the first upbeat single to lead a Melissa Manchester album and besides its standard 7" inch 45 issue the track served as Manchester's extended dance single debut (producer Buckingham was best known for the Alicia Bridges disco. Without producing a Top 30 single, the Melissa Manchester album evidenced a drop in the singer's popularity from the precedent Don't Cry Out Loud album, with Melissa Manchester peaking at as opposed to #33.

One beneficiary of this was Melissa Manchester, who had made two good, but poor-selling albums for Bell. Davis turned on the money tap, and the result was this . recorded Vini Poncia/Richard Perry production that seemed determined to turn Manchester into a pop diva. She had demonstrated an eclecticism on her previous records, and she was run through a series of pop styles - disco on "Party Music," Philly soul on "Just Too Many People" (a Top 40 hit), Stevie Wonder on both "Stevie's Wonder" and Wonder's own "Love Havin' You Around. Midnite Blue" may have been more obvious and generic a romantic ballad than the beautiful "Inclined" from the previous album, but it was also sexier and had a more pronounced hook and a sweeter production, which, along with Arista's promotional muscle, made it a Top Ten hit and Melissa a gold album.

This album has an average beat per minute of 111 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 76/134 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Album starts at 76BPM, ends at 120BPM (+44), with tempos within the -BPM range. Try refreshing the page if dots are missing). Recent albums by Melissa Manchester. You Gotta Love the Life.

None of this mattered, unfortunately - Arista decided to show its support by pushing only the material by outside writers, and none of Manchester's inspired originals were released as singles.
