Missa Salisburgensis à 53 voci. Flag as Inappropriate. The Missa Salisburgensis à 53 voci is perhaps the largest-scale piece of extant sacred Baroque music, an archetypical work of the Colossal Baroque. The Mass had been considered a composition of Orazio Benevoli, or, more likely, Andreas Hofer, Biber's close contemporary and associate, but the attribution to Biber is now universally accepted. Escolania de Montserrat, Tölzer Knabenchor, Collegium Aureum directed by Ireneu Segarra. Deutsche Harmonia Mundi CD RD77050 (1974). Musica Antiqua Köln directed by Reinhard Goebel, Gabrieli Consort & Players directed by Paul McCreesh.

The Missa Salisburgensis à 53 voci is a large baroque Mass setting for two vocal and instrumental choirs four (or orchestra) in the style of the Venetian polychorality. The anonymous traditional composition is now attributed to Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber; earlier were Orazio Benevoli or Andreas Hofer suspected as a composer. The fair was probably the first time in 1682 in Salzburg Cathedral on the occasion of the 1100 anniversary of the Diocese of Salzburg (calculated according to the tradition of the St. Peter House ) listed.
