The Band - The Very Best Of The Band - The Shape I'm In album flac

The Best of the Band is the first greatest hits package by Canadian-American rock group The Band. Featuring ten tracks taken from six of their first seven albums (not counting 1974's Before the Flood or 1975's The Basement Tapes, both with Bob Dylan), it featured two tracks from the first, second, third and seventh albums, one each from the fourth and fifth, rounded out by the early 1975 single "Twilight". All tracks written by Robbie Robertson, except where stated.

The Band is the second studio album by the Band, released on September 22, 1969. It is also known as The Brown Album. According to Rob Bowman's liner notes for the 2000 reissue, The Band has been viewed as a concept album, with the songs focusing on people, places and traditions associated with an older version of Americana.

The Band was a very album-oriented group, and only had two Top 40 hit singles. So one could argue that a single-disc greatest hits compilation, or best-of anthology as this might more properly be called, is not the optimum way to dig into their repertoire  . Good, lengthy liner notes by Rob Bowman are a nice bonus, considering that single-disc career-spanning overviews often dispense with such frills. Strange, though, that "Don't Do It," their one Top 40 hit single other than "Up on Cripple Creek," isn't here; in fact, there's nothing from their live Rock of Ages.

The Band were four-fifths Canadian – drummer Levon Helm was from Arkansas – but their second album is all American. Guitarist Robbie Robertson's songs vividly evoke the country's pioneer age ("Across the Great Divide") and the Civil War ("The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"), while reflecting the fractured state of the nation in the 1960s. He was so proud of them that he privately auditioned almost all of the album, from start to finish, for pals and peers including Mike Bloomfield, David Crosby and Graham Nash before cutting them in September – in just a week, with members of the bluegrass band Deliverance.

P! atd is the best! awesome. I'm totally love their songs and not just welcome to the black parade, I love all of the band members for their talent. I believe that they have their own style and that any copy cats out there will never be half as good as the real thing. The fact is their not in it for the money they just do it for their fans, and are very passionate. I'm not hating on any other bands just saying that before people jusage them knowledge the amazing music they the people and the people that they help x. Their songs were inspirational, and they saved and changed loads of people's lives.
