Ace of Spades is the fourth studio album by the band Motörhead, released 8 November 1980, on Bronze Records. It peaked at No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and reached Gold status by March 1981  . The song "(We Are) The Road Crew" was written as a tribute to the band's roadies. Despite the band always referring to their music as Rock 'n' Roll, the album, and particularly its title track have been considered amongst the most influential in the development of thrash metal. The title track is, for many, the definitive Motörhead anthem. The album is listed in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Ace Of Spades was one of them. The band recognised its potential, and worked it up into a rough song and recorded an instrumental version at Rockfield. Back in London, they added vocals and overdubs. This early incarnation first appeared on the 1989 odds-and-sods album Dirty Love. While not dissimilar from the finished version, it lacked two key components: that steel-plated central riff, and the breakdown that Lemmy memorably described as the tap-dancing section. In his later years, Lemmy had mixed feelings about the song he played every night on stage with Motörhead. While he recognised its enduring quality, familiarity definitely bred contempt. I’m sick to death of it now, he wrote in his 2002 autobiography, White Line Fever.

The "Desert Scene" Ace of Spades album cover was actually shot in a sandpit near Barnet, 10 miles northeast of London. A campaign to send this song back into the UK Top 40 following the death of Lemmy on December 28, 2015 saw the track re-enter the singles chart at This was two places higher than its original position of In tribute to Lemmy, who died about six weeks earlier, The Hollywood Vampires (led by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry) performed this song at the Grammy Awards in 2016. com/watch?v 0bDepUPeYC4.

1980 was probably one of the most important years in Rock N Roll when you really think about it. First off, Bon Scott and John Bonham died, and it was also around this time that New Wave of British Heavy Metal came about, with Iron Maiden's self-titled debut. That cover represents the first handful of songs off this album. Ace of Spades', 'Love Me Like a Reptile', 'Shoot You in the Back' and 'Live to Win' are all great examples of this. Each feels as if it has it's own western badass personality. You should also pick up their newest, Inferno, because it's utterly fucking fantastic. And synyster, they're like a meeting point of rock, punk, and metal. south of heaven 11 May 3rd 2006.

I Love Rock 'n Roll is the second studio album by Joan Jett and the first with her backing band The Blackhearts. Soon after the first recording sessions at Soundworks Studios, original Blackheart guitarist Eric Ambel was replaced by Ricky Byrd. It is Jett's most commercially successful album to date with over 10 million copies sold, largely due to the success of the title track, which was released as a single soon after the album was released.
