Komar & Melamid, the Russian duo who have long provoked the art world, team up here with Dave Soldier, also known for unconventional and disturbing projects. Together, they ran a poll on the world wide web asking people about their most wanted and most hated musical instruments, voices, forms, and styles. The album opens with a Muzak magnum opus, The Most Wanted Song (5:00).

This album is a quasi-scientific experiment conducted by Russian artists Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid, with the help of composer Dave Soldier. It started life as an online poll, where people were invited to vote for the things they most like to hear in music, and the things that most annoy them; Komar, Melamid, and Soldier then took the results and churned out two songs, one of them "The Most Wanted Song" (using all the elements most people liked) and one of them "The Most. Unwanted Song" (using all the elements most people hate)

Komar and Melamid's People's Choice series, 1994–1997, consisted of the "most wanted" and "most unwanted" paintings of 11 countries, as well as two songs in the same vein. A musical version of The People's Choice was produced with composer Dave Soldier resulting in The Most Unwanted Song.
