Box of Frogs were a band formed in 1983 by former members of the Yardbirds, who released their first album in 1984. The core group consisted of Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell-Smith, and Jim McCarty. Vocals on their eponymous album were done by John Fiddler, formerly of Medicine Head and British Lions; on the second album Fiddler sang on five tracks with guests including Graham Parker, Ian Dury and Roger Chapman singing lead on the others.

This cassette reissue of Box of Frog's second LP has a non LP single tacked on at the end which is right up there with their MTV anthem, Back Where I Started. Only 20/20 Vision found its way onto one of the Esoteric reissues.

Box of Frogs' two albums, Box of Frogs and Strange Land, were reissued on a single disc by Renaissance Records in 1996. Both albums are rather uneven and a little undistinguished, yet they may appeal to fans of mainstream AOR hard rock from the early '80s. For Yardbirds fans, this is essentially a curiosity, since it doesn't have the spark, sound or style of the Yardbirds, despite featuring Jim McCarty, Chris Dreja and Paul Samwell-Smith.

The band featured former Yardbirds members Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell-Smith and Jim McCarty, who were Joined by former Medicine Head and British Lions guitarist and vocalist John Fiddler. For this album, Fiddler departed half way through recording and guest vocalists Ian Dury, Roger Chapman and Graham Parker guested. Strange Land also featured guest appearances by guitarists Jimmy Page and Steve Hackett.
